GVSU Student Senate Gives Meadows Crossing their Seal of Approval

Meadows Crossing is proud to announce that our community has been voted as one of the best off-campus apartment communities by the GVSU Student Senate. The Student Senate voted this week to determine which apartment community in Allendale provided the best service for the best value to their residents. Meadows Crossing earned their seal of approval because we were able to demonstrate our outstanding value to GVSU students and the university itself. For this we received the 2019-2020 Off-Campus Housing Award.

This summer the GVSU Student Senate approached all of the off-campus apartment communities. They invited us to put together a presentation that would show that our community was “an outstanding place for students to live, learn, and grow.” The student senate is a body of 50 students who meet weekly, connect with leaders on and off GVSU’s campus, and advocate for the needs of students. Its goal is to create positive change that will enrich students’ learning and living experiences.

The university can only provide on-campus housing to about 6,000 students a year. The total GVSU enrollment is almost four times that number. This means that Allendale apartment communities serve the student body in a very real way. We have a responsibility to the students. We should provide safe, affordable, pleasant places for GVSU Lakers to live. The senate asked all of the communities to prove excellence in the following areas:

They interviewed our residents to get first-hand reviews of all of the above as well. They asked them for their opinions on how good their experiences were with our community. They wanted to know how good the service they received was and, specifically, how responsive the maintenance department was, how friendly and easy to work with the main office staff was, and how well the grounds were kept. They wanted to know what steps we take to keep the grounds secure and safe as well.

Meadows Crossing has no problem demonstrating our commitment to our residents and the good standard of living that we provide for our residents, but to win this award we created a short segment with Wood TV8. In this video we highlighted all of the reasons people choose to live at our community and why so many residents renew their leases at the end of the year.

We have said it before, but we will say it again, Meadows Crossing is locally owned and managed by Glenn Turek who is a graduate of GVSU and has a vested interest in the university and our residents’ education. We have an interest in serving the students of this community and continuing the tradition of a great overall educational experience at Grand Valley. Our location is the best, bar none. Our reasonable rent rate and reasonable utility rates make it affordable as well. We think that if you look into what we offer in terms of great facilities (which include private rooms and bathrooms), amenities, abundant parking, and on-site shops, you too will decide that Meadows Crossing is #theplacetobe.

We would like to thank to GVSU’s Student Senate for awarding us the 2019-2020 Off-Campus Housing Award and for recognizing all the work we do every day for GVSU students!
