Returning to Normal Campus Life at GVSU

As coronavirus cases continue to decline across Michigan, we at Meadows Crossings are beginning the process of returning to a more normal campus life at GVSU. We’ve taken steps to protect our residents throughout the pandemic, and now we are opening up many of our amenities so that they can enjoy what we offer to our community here.

Transitioning to a Normal Campus Life

Many people may wonder how do you return to a normal campus life after something like COVID-19? Our answer is with deliberate care. We are making choices based on the direction of our state government and our own research and experience. For example, our Meadows Crossing office lobby is open, but our office is only accessible by knocking, and we ask that residents wear a mask in the office to protect them and our staff. Also, we’ve modified our move in/move out process to comply with social distancing requirements.

Regarding our amenities such as the Pool & Spa, Rec Room, and Fitness Center, we have implemented cutting edge technology to make them safer for our residents to use. We have electrostatically sprayed each of these amenity areas with MicrobeCare which is a hospital grade disinfectant that chemically bonds to all surfaces and quickly kills viruses and microbes that are introduced to these areas for many years to come. MicrobeCare is a patented antimicrobial solution that is registered with the EPA. Our entire Leasing Office was treated with MicrobeCare over two months ago, and we have seen how it works after recently testing the surface of our office desks for germs.

Also, we are in the process of installing state-of-the-art air purification technology in each of our indoor amenities which includes the Leasing Office, Package Center, Study Center, Tanning Center, Rec Room, and Fitness Center. This technology involves the use of ionic purification equipment in our heating & cooling systems to disinfect the air by killing all viruses and microbes, resulting in environments that have clean, healthy air.

With the warmer weather we have been enjoying, our residents were anxious to use our beautiful pool. After fully cleaning and treating the pool area with MicrobeCare and setting the outdoor furniture up to observe social distancing requirements, we opened it on June 9, limiting it to half capacity. It’s definitely getting used! We are still waiting for the Michigan government to approve the opening of gyms and fitness centers before opening our Fitness Center and Tanning Center

The stores at Meadows Crossing have been doing well, including Insomnia Cookies, Cottage Inn Pizza, and One-Stop Harry’s Party Store. Gentleman’s Quarters Barber Salon will be open soon. The residents here want to get back to a normal campus life, and they are.

If you have any further questions about how we are handling the coronavirus or its aftermath as an apartment community, we are happy to answer them. We want our residents to feel comfortable with our decisions and how they affect campus life here. Call us with those or any other problems. We are here for our residents now and always.
